American Crow
American Robin
Not the harbinger of spring that perhaps they once were, robins are now seen year-round in my project zone, feeding on the remaining berries and fruits of trees and shrubs.
American Tree Sparrow
Blue Jay
Hooded Merganser
Northern Cardinal : Female
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Red-winged Blackbird : Male
The return of the red-winged blackbird is a sign that spring is really on its way. I've noticed that they show up right around mid march. For me, they are the true harbinger of spring, and I look forward to hearing their unique song after a long (and cold) winter.
